There is a signature sale every month. You can view all of the lots before the auction opens. Bidding begins on October 5th. They have 9 different 3-legged buffalo's including an au58 example with very nice eye appeal. http://coins.ha.com/common/view_item.php?Sale_No=1130&LotIdNo=2056#photo BTW, Mark is right. I have been searching for an eye appealing mint state 3 legged buffalo for almost two years. I am still looking.
Dude - come on.....that isn't what he meant at all... What he was saying, and is quite right in fact, is that you can't tell from those pic's and be 100% sure either way. Speedy
I know, I'm wrong again.. Jee, it really seems like I get singled out by a few of you quite a bit and now I associate your names with negative feelings. When I see your name, Speedy, I honestly don't ever see a nice thing come to me. It's always a criticism. Mark Feld is another big one who's into the constant criticism. stainless, nothing personal but I don't see what the problem is. I think the general tenor of my first post ont his coin was one of "Wow Jay, how do you think it's cleaned?" and I was questioned on my intuition. I just had a feeling it was cleaned, no explanation necessary. Then, things seem to change.. aye vey!
Ok, lets use your logic. I think the coin is fake...no explanation needed, I just have a feeling. YOu see how this works, and why explanations are needed? stainless
No but I do think that a select few of you are definitely ganging up on me to put me down for whatever the reason is. You can say I asked for it, but I really didn't. I just come here to learn and then give my advice out to others in need when I get real good.
Uh nope that's not how I meant it. I can tell now by first looking at it that it has a general shine that just seems unnatural. That is very subjective for me and that is why I would call a spade a spade.
What you should be feeling is that a select few are giving you their best advice for free. I don't know everyone's qualifications, but Mark Feld's presently runs his own coin business and prior to that spent 7(?) years as a NGC grader. You know - the one who says what to put on those slabs (or if they have been cleaned).
I understand that and I appreciate that aspect of it but why do I feel like we can do this in a friendlier way and still get the same message across?
I have a damaged one, good toning, got some bad scratches, but I am happy with it, to get an undamaged one with similar toning would cost thousands more.
BNB - as I see it here is the issue. And I present this in 100% honesty and with no malice whatsoever intended. You joined the forum readily admitting that you didn't know anything about coins and that you wanted to learn about them. You wanted advice. Your reason for doing this was so you could "invest" in coins. Well, over a period of time you were told repeatedly by knowledgeable people, some of whom have been involved with coins for 50 years, that investing in coins was not wise, even for those well versed in the hobby. Your respnse in a nutshell was - nonsense, this can be done. Then you began to ask about specific coins, would this one be good, that one be bad etc etc. Then you began to post pics of coins you had purchased. Again asking it if was a good deal or pronouncing what a good deal it was. Well, when it was pointed out to you that it really wasn't a good deal and why, again your attitude was, that can't be right. Now you're claiming that people are ganging up on you, picking on you and being negative. All of this taking place in the space of about a month. These people aren't ganging up on you. What you fail to see, I guess because you are in denial, is that these people are merely telling you the exact same thing they have been telling you all along. And you apparently are getting tired of hearing it. Well, I can understand that to a degree. But don't you think that maybe the reason you keep getting told the same thing by a rather large group of people is because they are right ? I mean they all pretty much agree with each other. They all tell you pretty much the same thing over and over. Do you really think that they are ALL wrong ? Don't you think that it might be time to wake up, smell the coffee and at least consider - hmmmmm, maybe they're right. You came here asking for advice. That advice has been given to you freely and happily by those who have spent their lifetimes learning it. But you chose to ignore that advice, claiming that you can do what nobody else has ever done in the entire history of the hobby. Now, absolutely no disrepsect intended, but are you nuts or what ? My advice to you BNB would be to sit down, read, listen and learn. The folks here will go out of their way to help you. They will bend over backwards and spend no small amount of their time to help you. But you have to be willing to listen. You have to be willing to take the excellent advice that is given to you. Otherwise you're going to be just another one of those who wouldn't listen and end up throwing a lot of money away. And they number in the thousands. Now which way you go from here is entirely up to you. It can be a very pleasant and enjoyable experience that you end up benefitting from - or it can be rather unpleasant and quite similar to what you have been experiencing for the past few weeks. Which would you rather it be ?
Well I really am sorry that you do - those on here who know me would tell you that I'm a pretty nice guy in person! For the past few months I haven't been on CT as much as I would like as I'm going through some changes, and maybe just maybe, those are causing me to be grouchy..... All in all, I'm normally a nice guy, and as a Moderator my job is to read the post and make sure the rules are followed. The only reason I replied to the post that I did was that I felt that you had taken Stainless the wrong way and I didn't want you or him, to have bad feelings towards each other. Speedy
I feel it's really important that we all question wrong information when it gets posted. If not that information gets passed on and on with more people thinking it's true. I want folks to question anything I may post that they feel is wrong. I would feel really bad if someone acted on something I posted and got hurt because I was wrong. There is just too much money involved in this hobby to leave wrong information unquestioned. It's not about picking on any one person. It's about questioning if the information is true, no matter who posted it.
