Look guys, If I could get this buffalo for $1500 you think I did ok? Even if it's cleaned or brushed, it could possibly resell for a great price way down in the future.. and, it is a beautiful looking coin.. thoughts?
AU bid in the sheets is $1,100... for a no problem AU... minor problem AU/MS coin is worth between XF and AU money.... the coin is worth about a grand MAYBE $1,200 IMO.
I strongly suspect that yopu're smarter than you're acting. It's likely a problem coin, of which there are plenty of, even at seemingly low prices. Stop trying to beat the big odds in buying an uncertified example without extensive numiusmatic knowledge. You might as well buy a lotto ticket.
By the way, it's interesting how I remarked that this Buffalo was cleaned from the get -go and a few posters said it wasn't..
Care to explain that comment. Look at the title of the thread. Also, I don't see a single post that says the coin wasn't cleaned. If you are calling someone out, don't beat around the bush, call them out using a quote.

Because I can't see any signs of a cleaning. Quote: Originally Posted by raider34 I don't collect Buffalos' but what leads you to believe it's been cleaned? And from those pics I still can't see any definitive signs of cleaning. Just because it's an expensive, key coin, on eBay, is not proof it has been cleaned. Also there is a difference between cleaned coins, and whizzed and polished coins. From the pics I see no hairlines, or lack of luster, and I don't see any signs of a polishing. You have said it's cleaned, but have yet to explain what characteristics of the coin lead you to believe it's been cleaned.
No you wouldn't - and here is why I say that. Who wants a "problem" coin? - if you were dealing in low dollar coins, $1-$5, a problem coin such as this might not be a problem, but in most cases the collectors who are going to be buying such a "high dollar" coin are going to go for the good stuff and not the junk. If you did get a buyer for it, it would be someone like yourself, who is just trying to make a quick buck. Please don't take my post wrong - I tried to write it so it wouldn't sound rude or mean! Great advice , and as I'm late to this thread , I think just about everyone who posted was giving good advice , It's most likely an AU coin with a previous cleaning that was BB , and most likely not worth the money the OP was willing to pay . rzage
BNB, What happened to this quote that you posted last Saturday on a different thread: "For a buyer, Heritage is the only place I'll go now.. I don't even know if going to shows is good for me anymore after seeing the prices being thrown around here. It's just disgraceful in my opinion." Did the E-Bay market rebound in one week.
Right but Heritage hardly has ANY coins at the moment. I don't know when there next batch comes in either.. Any idea?
to BNB: I'm not patient myself, that's my downfall, I can relate to you alot man. Let me tell you something, mark once had a coin I really wanted. I was in too much of a hurry to do anything, and I didn't have much patience. It was because I had the patience to wait several weeks and think on it, that he sold it to me. I think my patience is better now, but it's still my downfall. Great coins don't come out often, so it takes patience to find them.
