    has anyone ever heard of a 1941 (steel) penny? I have one here, I think. If you need a pic I can put it up. just wondering..thanks--BILL

    Have you verified that it is attractive to a magnet, and not just a copper cent that has been used in a high school chem lab experiment?

    If so, a clear picture of the date would be helpful.

    you know, I should have thought of that in the first place--the magnet!!! sometimes im an idiot!!!!! i will let you know

    OK, it isn't magnetic. What does it weigh? (Need to eliminate the possibility of a cent struck on a dime planchet.)

    Not sure but sounds like one of those many plated coins. I've got a pile of 1943 Steel cents that someone plated with what appears to be Chrome. Then too I have a few plated with Copper. If you can accuarately weigh it, you may find it is just a shade over the normal weight which would possibly mean it is plated.
