With out the rim dent I would say MS65 but since it is dented I will say MS63. It is a great looking coin though.
Tom don't be discouraged this coin has some great detail and awesome fields. Also, if you wait 5 minutes there will be someone along to challenge my grade. Remember it is subjective.
It looks to be AU to me. The hair above the doesn't have quite the detail I would look for in an MS coin. The breast feathers also look to be a little worn to me. But what do I know.
I would grade it XF-45 for several reasons: 1. There appears circulation ware on hair and breast feathers. 2. Dings - several on the rims and devices 3. Lack of luster - possibly cleaned? are these pictures or scans??
AU50 or 53 lack of good luster, and slight wear on the high points of hair above ear, date, and eye. Cotton leaf tips have wear, but I cannot tell the fullness of the dimples in the cotton bols. Eagle breast feathers, legs, and talons slightly worn. This is a really nice coin.
I'd say AU. Great details, but the feathers on the eagle breast could be better. Still a very nice coin. Guy~
I can't tell with these pictures...it is either AU or MS. The 1885-S is typically a slightly weaker struck issue and thus the high points could either be wear or a weak strike. In hand it would be easy to tell, but since the luster isn't showing up well in the pictures I can't tell if the high points have luster breaks or not.
The coin looks like a high grade AU, possibly low grade MS. There is no way it grades below AU or that it's choice unc.
