Ike & Kennedy Errors

    Hi All,
I would appreciate your feedback on two coins I have that I believe to be errors. I've only been collecting since Feb, so I'm still relatively new to this.

The first is a 1971d Ike that seems to be a pretty significant die filled error. Would this be correct? It doesn't show in the pics (low light) but the surface of the coin is shiny without any major scratches on the front & reverse. There seems to be a premium on these coins, worth grading? Any ideas on estimated value?

The second coin is a 1979 Kennedy Half Dollar. If you look at the pic I don't think this is post mint damage. Would this be a strike-through error? Also worth grading?

    Thank you.

The first coin Ike dollar may be a die adjustment strike, The kennedy i would say post mint tamperd damage that;s a big indent to be something a strike thru error.

I don't know but the Kennedy hair line appears to be high wiping out part of the B E R at the top, and the date looks kind of odd too.

I think the Ike is struck thru grease. The rim on the obverse and reverse are too strong to be a die adjustment strike. I don't see anything on the Kennedy to rule out a strike thru so a strike thru is my guess.

Neat Ike! I agree that it is a die-adjustment strike, or a really weak strike(basically same thing). It is definetly a keeper!:thumb: For how extreme it is, I would say it would have a signific premium, how much I don't know. Nice find!

Thanks for comments. Is there any difference in apparent collectability between a die-adjustment strike or grease filled strike? My guess was that it was a grease filled error b/c the reading is very sharp on the coin (on the right in the pic). I referenced this page for a definition: http://www.jimscoins.net/error_coin_examples.php

    Thanks.

There's a big differance in price range a die adjustment strike is worth much more than a greased filled die/

A greasefilled die is a minor error ,were a die adjustment strike is a major error.

Both are nice coins and mint errors

Both are nice coins and mint errors.
The Ike is grease filled or die adjustment strike the Kennedy is strike thru. or filled die.
Finding such errors on large coins is not easy and they are nice.
