Hello there! I was flipping through today at my local antique store, and a few new coins caught my eye here and there. Until... I spotted this. Just a 2006 P Nickel, but with a "golden" shine. It was $1.00. I felt like it was just a satin finsh coin, but I followed through and spent my dollar for this coin. Posted are some pics. If anyone could identify what this coin is, for ex.-Satin finish, or just a special commerative coin, it would be very appreciated. Thank you! -Jordan
Sorry guys, either it's complete nothing, or nobody knows anything about this coin (which I doubt, while I'm having extremely experienced coin collectors checking about). Just had to mention 1 thing... I heard before that if it is a "legit" gold coin, you can scratch it, and it will leave a mark. I did a very small test scratch at the edge, and... It left a mark, Although, it could be wiped off from your finger's skin. Still I am very very curious about this. Even though it probally is nothing, I have high hopes -Jordan
It is probably someone's science experiment. It may have been electroplated. For a dollar, maybe a little to high, but everyone has their own coins they like. If you think that it might be of different metal, just weigh it. I believe a nickel should weigh 5 grams if I am not mistaken. I don't think it is a satin finish though. Also, sometimes you have to be patient for responses. Jessie
It could just simply be a golden toned coin. That is a very common color for a nickel, even one as new as that coin.
Not gold and hard to tell about satin finish it's Not gold and hard to tell about satin finish it's most likley a nickel that has toning very, very common for them to tone. Sorry you had to pay a dollar for a coin worth 5 cents but glad you got a cheap lession that you will not forget - that's the most important thing!
It's an interesting coin. $1 is a pretty cheap price to pay for something that keeps your interest for a bit and is fun to research. Enjoy it.
