Impossible Mission Consider this a really tough Coin to conceive. But we have time to TRY to get it right.
I agree that it is a really hard coin to conceive...but that doesn't mean it's going to be a failure.
I'm no artist and I can prove it. But I attempted to throw together an angry firebird last night. Is there an artist out there that can eagle~lize this theme that came to me last night? Put some claws & better beak and still maintain the Phoenix~ness. The renewal of life rising from ashes is just stuck in my mind right now and I attempted this foolishness in an attempt to bring closure. The Phoenix seems to have been used many times before on coins but it just might be time to raise it up......again.
Actually, it makes your case. So it is going to take a law changing + sensitivity + artistic endeavors + a little anti~malice & forethought to pull off this impossible task? Sounds about right. As my old chief like to say: "Let it be a challenge to you." I would like to see it attempted. Lets roll folks! How do you put the WTC & Pentagon & a farm field into one co~joined meaningful scene?:hatch:
Wings on fire That bottom one looks like it's wings are melting and going~ "Holly Buffalo Poo!" It there an Artist in the house? or senate
I was reading an email I received from coinnews today about the upcoming meeting by the CCAC. They are meeting to talk about the upcoming commemoratives and I remember something about this 9/11 coin idea being placed on hold because of a 2 coin per year legislation rule. Anyone know what became of this great idea for the US Mint to produce a 10yr anniversary coin to commemorate 9/11? http://www.coinnews.net/2010/06/25/ccac-to-discuss-commemorative-coins-and-designs-on-june-28/
I wasn't a member here when this thread began, but since it has been resurrected, I'd like to add my 2c worth. I do not think the commem should include any references either by design or written legend of the other events that took place that day. Yes, they were all very tragic, but this is about the WTC. At the same time, I would like to think that that some representation is included in the design to honor the members of the FDNY & NYPD who gave their lives trying to save others. Chris
World Trade Center Coin Hello everyone, This is the coin I was given after working at the World Trade Center from 9/11 to 7/12. It was something I will live with forever. Hope you like the coin. Steve
