Hello ! I am asking for help to determine the value of a set of sterling silver ingots from the Hamilton Mint. They are the official ingots of the United States. They each weigh 2500 grams and were minted in 1974 by special order. They are in the original wood box under a heavy plastic protective cover and in fine condition. They are very nice. All advice is appreciated. Thank you.
The silver is worth this much 1226.89at 16.50 a troy ounce. It is very hard to say with things like this because you never know what someone will want to pay as a premium. Some times silver bars that are very clean looking with intersting picuters, kiss, nude women, special events. Will cary a premium, You could maybe list them at 1,300 each with a best offer and see what you get. Just from persional experiance people who are silver bugs offten do not care about the box ext because all they want is the PM. Best of luck and welcome to CT. Also as a side note. When I buy just bullion silver I normaly end up buying tarneshed ugly bullion because I can get it at a discount. I only care about the cost per gram not what the object looks like.
A private mint calling them "official" doesn't confer any legitimacy on them. Yeah, "special order" of the private mint's management.
A fair price at most dealers at my show would be about $1000 to $1050 A fair price with most dealers at my show would be about $1000 to $1050 this week.
