Coin shows, because you can shop around and look at the stock of alot of different dealers, all in person.
I guess coins showa are my favorite places. Get to look at a huge variety of coins and most of the time meet some nice people. AND of course learn something new.
My first choice is a few select dealers that only carrie high end eye appealing coins for the grade. Everything else I scour the globe through auctions, shops, shows, web etc.... No real favorite as almost no one can get the rare varieties I need.
I would agree with coinshows. I like dealers but lots of the time I like to shop around, get the best deal and best quality. I also like the many friendly dealers at the shows!
As with most I really like the coin shows. Compared to coin stores, the compition makes it easier to bargain and find more of what you are looking for. Over places like ebay or other auction web sites, on line dealers, at a coin show there is no postage, insurances, handling, restocking fees. If you go to them often enough, you also get to know some of the regular dealers and can sometimes place orders.
It used to be ebay. But its been absolutely dry for me, I haven't gotten anything there since March. Lately, its been vcoins, and one or two shows.
I mostly buy from the few coin shops in my area. I like coin shows, but my work doesn't always allow me to plan on attending, so I might only make one a year. Besides, the folks at the local coin shops know me and I know them, and thats a certain level of trust no coin show can provide, who cater to a lot of different dealers from who knows where and no local reputation. But, thats me. Guy~
I enjoy buying coins at shows & I enjoy re-visiting long-time friends & dealers at the shows. On a rainy day, a coin show is a great place to invest your time & money.
