That should be a good place to look!

I have a coin show that I think I'll be able to go to in 20+/- days!

I'm in NY too but there's nothing coming up that's close to me unless I drive for about one and a half hours. There's one in September, New Haven, CT. Maybe that's close to you. I might attend it.

About the best place to find out about coin shows is in the numismatic press. Both Coin World and Numismatic News have extensive & updated listings for coin shows every week. They list many many more than you will ever find out about on a web site.

I agree that the hobby trade publications, especially Coin World and Numismatic News, are the places to look. Everyone uses them. The online link is fine and I have mentioned them in my column. However, not all coin show planners know about that website -- and they all know Numismatic News and Coin World.

From the August 22 Coin World:
    Connecticut:
    September 11
New Haven: 2nd Sunday Coin and Paper Show. (Sounds like a monthly event!)
    September 25
Hartford: SNCC-- Southern New England Coin Club. (A regional club you might want to join!)

New York, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, ... Read the hobby newspapers.

Also, in New York City, there is the annual New York International Numismatic Convention (NYINC). Usually held in December or January, this show draws about 150 dealers from Europe, the USA, and beyond. It is a private show, not ANA, and it is very highly regarded in the hobby. It is primarily for foreigns, ancients, world, etc., but there is no shortage of mainstream U.S. material. The NYINC has educational seminars and forums, as well as auctions.

Also, in New York City, are the Coinage of the Americas Conferences, hosted by the American Numismatic Society.

These are not "coin shows." They are an opportunity to hear first rate presentations by the best numismatists on the newest research topics.

Another thought might be to join your local coin club. They usually know about the local shows and you might even meet someone who is willing to share gas costs. Although with gas costing as much as it is, that might be too much to ask.

Now you're coming to a great state!!!!
Back home again in Indiana. On the banks of the Wabash. The home of the greatest university of all time NOTRE DAME. But most important...the home of the best little coin show each month in South Bend (which just happens to be the home of who else........Notre Dame University).

Just watch in Coin World every month for the show at Comfort Suites in South Bend. Usually around 40 tables and a very good variety of U.S. and World coins plus good currency. One day show, always on Sat.. I'm fortunate to live about 15 short miles from South Bend but it is hard to get to the show because of the Sat. only.
