Birthday came and went. The relatives primarily gave me shopping money. Being a grad student I don't have much money for simply shopping, so I was more than happy to endulge in the activity. Went to my local coin shop last weekend only to find disappointment...he was gone out of town to a coin convention. So, I eagerly waited a week. The time finally came where I could go in and spend away. We talked of the convention, the new arrivals, etc. Well, toward the end I decided on the 2008 clad proof (the only one I missed that year), 2007-2008 uncirculated Sac dollars (p,d,s), and Ben Halves, 1961, 62, and 62 d. Grade on them was Unc, but I'm thinking AU-Unc...still practicing grading these. The big surprise was from my grandfather. He gave me two Large Cents, 1832 and 1836. I can't tell you how excited I was to recieve these. I know nothing of the history, how to grade, the symbolism on the coin, or anything about it. I couldn't wait to look things up. Still learning a lot with regard to the large cents. That had to be the greatest of the gifts. Wish I had a digital camera to provide pics...I'm sure they aren't anything great in grade, but for me they were some awesome coins regardless.

Way to go! Large cents are so cool - time for you to work on a set. :) Needless to say the purchases are nice, but large cents are one of my favorites. Now you have to go out and get a digital camera and get some pictures of them for us. :) Then somebody could attribute the coins. Here is a members large cent site. Very cool collection - mine are not that nice, but still a nice page to visit.

lol. I'm a grad student...meaning I have to battle bums for cans of spagetti o's. Being as such, the digital camera probably won't be until Christmas. Sorry.
