    wow that is a crazy price. :bigeyes: there must have been some type of bidding war going on. it shows another one had sold at some point for just over $3000

    There have only been 2 that I could find in their archives. The other one was over 2 years ago and it sold for around $3700.

    Thats insane for non-circulating coinage. I think Doug is right...registry wolves got at it.

    I would guess error in bidding, but to get a bid that high, you need at least two bidders getting the acutal price to go that high unless there is a reserve. Just insane.

    Maybe two people just really wanted it and put in super high max bids to ensure they win???

    Truer words have never been spoken...

    Yes the 1996 is a very cool coin for the ASE unc collection...but 21K would buy some very nice gold coins that have unique rarity status.
