I reciently purchased an 1876 S seated dime on ebay for 8 dollars. It looked good in the photos but when I recieved the coin, it is bent just a little bit more than slightly. (didn't look that way in the pictures) It was not listed as being bent. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260468845510&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT It really isn't worth my time to take repackage and send back. It may have been an honest mistake (more than likely not) ad I want to think this through. Any suggestions on how to deal with him. BTW he already left positive feedback for me.
If it isn't worth your time, (and if it was done on purpose), you going to more expense to try and correct someone's behavior, and it won't do so. I would keep it myself and leave a feedback , of " slightly bent, decided to cut return expense and keep" with a neutral, and not check any of the stars. If he questions, say you will return for a full refund including shipping and change the feedback as he was obviously trying to make good. Jim
I went ahead and shot him this email Recieved the dime but it was bent and appears to have been bent long ago. Why was it not listed as such? I would not have bid if I knew ant the photos did not show anything out of the ordinary. will see what happens. (should have done a spell check though)
I haven't done it myself, but this ebay page seems to indicate you can post a follow up, which I would think be Ok in this instance. http://pages.ebay.com/help/feedback/respond.html#leaving Jim
No, but you can have it removed if both of you mutually agree and, I believe that he has to start the process. Also, you can leave follow-up in the first 90 days, but so can he.
Here is the verdict. Gave hive a good 5 days to respond. He never attempted a response. Left Negitive feed back. Stated "coin was bent- attempted to contact through ebay email. no response" OH well. Will let you know his reply to this.
The auction ended two (2) weeks ago and the pictures are down. I've bought from him before, but don't recall the experience. At least contact him and explain the problem. I would decide from the converstion what to do next. If he apologizes and offers to make things right (but you don't want to pursue it), it's tough to leave negative feedback.
This seller has 14 neg's in one year! He's bad news peroid! claims he tryed to contact you to resolve....yeah right. I have seen this persons listings before he's a rip off!
I've contacted Sellers via eBay and they've answered me back via direct email...something to check. You may also want to check your "spam" folder...I've had responses sent there, also.
I feel your pain Sweet. I bought this note earlier this week at the last moment. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=150368585332&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT I gave a quick look at his feedback and it seemed okay, and put in a quick bid and won. This is what I rec'd, Now as I look closer at his feedback, I see he has sold this note 3 times already. Sent a threatening email and gave him 3 days to respond with a full refund plus shipping, or he will be reported and trashed in his feedback by me. I'm just as much at fault for not thoroughly checking the seller out with such a low sales rating, but I will not give in to such tactics, and I will prevail, even for $7.50. Paypal will refund my costs.
I don't know why the image won't enlarge, but trust me, it's a low grade piece of junk. Is this any better?
Sweet,I do feel your pain, If I was you I would chalk it up as a bad experience and just try and forget about it.Thank God it was only $8 dollars. This is ebay were anything can happen. Go on the paper money thread and look for (EBAY THE FIX IS IN.) THIS IS WHAT HAPPENED WITH A BILL I SOLD. Randy
Yeah, I heard from a guy that talked to a dealer that knows another dealer who has made a fortune on ebay buying up graded VF, slabbed currency, cutting them out of the holder and re-selling them on ebay as 'crisp' uncirculated. Has made a fortune doing it. Glad it was only $8 in your case. I would have left a negative too. There's no reason for that kind of deception and non-sense. There's so many dealers that want to push the limits with what they can get a way with on ebay. Then they want to hide behind the fact that the seller got to view the pictures, even if they were deceiving and claim innocence. Sometimes it comes back to bite them. So be it.
Took a look and he has sold it at least four times now, plus he is selling it as a 1935 but his picture is a 1935 E series, and so far the the people he has "sold" it to seem to be claiming that they got the item he was selling. So either they don't know what they are getting, or they are lying.
