No one's threatened by your "groups of text"...just not particularly interested.

Glad "noone's interested" as actually being the reason for censorship and not racism. This whole "privately owned" open to the public thing can get a bit murky somtimes. Thanks for clearing that up for me.:smile

Is it really that hard for you to understand that most are here to read and talk about COINS. Have you bothered to look at what the name of this site is?
It's right at the top of the screen. It says COIN TALK.

You have made several comments about the members here that are flat out insulting. Please find a forum that is made for what you wish to discuss.
If it's not coin related, this is not the proper site.

Racism? Where did that come from? Just because you don't want to get back on topic doesn't mean you belong to an inferior race! Don't be so hard on yourself.

Sir.. I understand this is "coin talk". I am also aware that I get edited quickly while others roll on with their "drifts" into non related areas, usually unchallenged. I think the "insults" come at me, equally unchallenged.
I choose to post what I think at the time and in open forum, rather than "telling the teacher" behind anybody's back. When it is consistently demonstrated throughout the span of ALL posts that this selective policy is no longer the case, and that includes the "experts" who seem to claim to know almost everything, I will continue to post in, what I deem to be, an equal and reflective manner of the rest of the folks that post content that I may not like or agree with, but I think I can manage. Words never hurt anyone (at least outside this bubble).

Now Tom - you know that what you said there isn't the case - if you see something that crosses the line PLEASE report it to the Moderators. This is a large forum and there is no way that I can read every single post that is made. I'm sure I miss some, but I think you know better than to think that we are watching you closer than anyone else! LOL

Ya know Tom, there is 1, and only 1, reason why we do not allow certain subjects to be discussed here. This is it -

    8 – Subjects we don’t discuss here

Basically it’s common sense. Just about every person on the planet has heard the saying – “never discuss politics and/or religion”. Why ? Because it starts fights, arguments and causes nothing but hate and discontent. If you wish to discuss politics and or religion, then go someplace else. We don’t allow it here.

Now I know that some might say that it is impossible to discuss coins sometimes without mentioning politics since it is the politicians that make the decisions regarding coinage – and that is quite true. And since we have phrases like “In God We Trust” on our coins you could say that the discussion of religion is necessary in a way – and that is quite true. Therefore, it will be up to the sole discretion of the Coin Talk Administrators and Moderators as to what constitutes a permissible discussion on these subjects – period.

Now what I have tried to explain to you is that the vast majority of the members here LIKE that rule. They want it that way. They come here to discuss COINS, not politics and religion. If they wanted to discuss politics and religion then they would go to forum dedicated to politics and/or religion.

But the bottom line is this Tom, those rules are posted right there at the top for all to see and READ. And every single member there is, has to agree to follow those rules if they wish to participate in this forum. They don't have to like it, they just have to do it.

Now you rather obviously don't like it. So I have to ask you - why are you still here ? I can assure you, we are NOT going to change the rules. Count on it, it aint gonna happen. So if you don't like it Tom, you can leave. We absolutely do not force you to come here. And I promise, if you do leave, we won't mind.

    And when you say -

" I am also aware that I get edited quickly while others roll on with their "drifts" into non related areas, usually unchallenged. I think the "insults" come at me, equally unchallenged. "

Would you please, please, show me an example of this.

OK, I'm confused by your comments.

The studies conducted by the US Goverment state definitively that the country would be better off without the cent, both from a financial point of view and from a convenience point of view. So how can they possibly be believing what the studies tell them if the cent still exists ? I don't understand that logic.

I see more logic in keeping the cent than keep making coins that are never used. (Halves and dollar coins only available from the mint sets) Seems like a waste to me?

Well, I agree we shouldn't make coins that are never used. I would suggest that the penny would never be used if commerce got away from pricing everything in pennies.

Now THAT (imho) is the crux of the problem...politically as well as practically.

Good logic coop, I can see the half and dollar coin as collector items only, with prices set to support the production costs, which I believe the Mint is doing. I would also be willing to pay the same support costs for collector only cent production.

While I also understand the economics of the production cost/life expectancy of the paper dollar versus a dollar coin. My personal preference is still the paper dollar, but I also recognize that I will have to change my thinking on that at some point. :)

    Sir Speedo,
It IS most definately the case but "reporting" it is not only childish but pointless. You may delete a "token" post here and there, but largely, most go on to whatever conclusion they go to, and yes I know you watch me closely. That's obvious.

    Dearest Doug,
I'm sure you'd be ecstatic if I left, and I may do that because it's gettin' old dealin' with prudes, but, for this posting, I'm here. The insult references I make are also accurate. I'm not going to go through all the past posts and point them out to you because, again, the "teacher, teacher, look what he did" mentality is childish rather silly. Much easier to read on, and besides, finding posts like that I thought were YOUR job..but I guess selective enforcement is the norm.
I don't like you either Doug, but, I put up with your skewed opinions and faulty assumptions because it is educational and you also have the right to be wrong, and because you do occasionally have good information. I just have to realize that it IS probably skewed and go on. I can do that. Good day.

um...so if you see a drunk driver on the road, do you report it, or is that childish and pointless.
I don't know how to set your mind at ease because I really don't watch you - if you are ever down in this area I would be glad to take you out to eat and talk about the issues that you feel are wrong here on CT.

:secret: Actually Tom I wouldn't be happy if you left. I'd miss you. I look forward to your posts every single day. I find them to be quite entertaining and actually enjoy them.

But if you wish to feel that you are singled out, picked on, abused, treated unfairly or somehow oppressed here on this forum - well, I guess that's your problem to deal with.

You like to put words in people's mouths, don't ya Doug? Picked on, abused, blah, blah, blah. Part of your God complex I suppose. It's a shame intelligent people have to be stifled, censored, and otherwise muted in favor of those that know so little of the real world. (I'm not talking about myself before you re-characterize that too Doug). I mean the Nazi-like takeover of another thread which included the first "well though out" and honest response of said thread. It's a shame that you have to force feed folks their topics and get rid of anything "outside of your bubble" under the guides of maintaining that bubble for the lemmings that refuse to see anything but what they select as reality..Sad place. Yeah...I'm about ready to bolt, so, the bubble can continue to float around unchallenged, and yes, I've already read. that noone's that important and I really would not proclaim to be that vain to suggest that I was, like many others seem to believe. You guys really oughta just close the doors for pay per view for your selected prudes that live in this bubble. Why associated with peasants?? I would close with "good day" but my heart ain't in it, so, adios.
