Can anyone help me identify this coin? Any info would be useful such as authenticity, date, translation, approximate value, history?...Thanks! BTW, I found it with a collection of Indian coins.
You have already posted this same coin in another thread just halfway down the page. There is no reason the post it again. I am sorry that I can't help in the identification. But as stated before, it looks Indian and real but other than that, don't know.
Ya, I realized this was a repost, but due to the lack of responses, I thought I'd give it a bump and boost the number of views. I'll try to delete the previous post. I did some research online, and it looks VERY similar to Mughal coins during the rule of Akbar. The only concern I had was the text in my coin looks like a zoomed in version of the text on other coins I've seen online. I've also read that there are some fakes floating around. The real ones are supposed to be silver. Anyone know what color silver becomes as it tarnishes? My coin looks like a yellowish silver color.
My take on it is maybe it's a token and maybe it's a fake coin. Try ruling things out, like it doesn't look like a Paisa and it doesn't look Egyptian so it could be blank. In theory the blank will equal your answer. Simple coinology 101.
I am fairly sure that it's Indian. Try checking out www.zeno.ru I remember seeing some square coins listed somewhere in the Indian section there. It is not a well organized site, but I think it will help.
Here's a coin from the Zeno site at the bottom to compare with mine on top. As I mentioned before, it has similarities, but certain elements are just not right...
But just to show that some variations may exist, here's another one from the same site. Notice the reverse especially Edit: DCH, I just noticed your post. I think you found my exact coin! Thank you VERY MUCH!!
