I have acquired a series of gold coins. The largest is marked as follows:

FERDND VII 1812 on the front on the back 8 Soles

images are attached. I've searched online to no avail in locating a value. Anyone here have idea above the melt value of the coin?

Whoa, don't melt!!!! I am unfamiliar with foreign golds, but if this is real, It looks extremely valuable. Would need the weight to assess the gold value.

I have no intention of melting any of these. I can figure the melt value based on weight and estimate of purity.

The one I posted weighs 17.5 dwt.
I have 4 others in smaller sizes.
Carolus III 1787 4 soles at 8.6 dwt
Carolus III 1788 2 soles at 4.4 dwt
Carolus III 1777 1 soles at 2.1 dwt
Ferdin VII 1817 1.1 dwt back has a shield with 2 castles top left and bottom right with 2 lions rampant lower left and top right.

I have a Thracian Kings Koson MS64 ICG 44-42 BC and a Roman Marcian gold solidus gem uncirculated with a NGC report. No values found on these other than listings on ebay.

You'll have bette rluck searching for the right denomination, it's not soles, it's escudos.

The 8 escudos has .7616 oz of pure gold.

    The 1/2 escudo .0475 oz.

    The 1 escudo .0979 oz.

    The 2 escudos .1905 oz.

    The 4 escudos .3922 oz.
