Sunday evening 900fine posted the big news of a $1,000,000+ large cent sale at the Goldberg Auction. --> http://www.cointalk.com/t68839/ Anyone else, beside me, waiting for confirmation of a winning bid? The 'Prices Realized' list is on their web site, my max bid was higher, so, I'm thinking I have won two lots. I feel like it's Christmas Eve and I'm 8 years old.
Couldn't make it down to lot viewing so most of my bids were what I considered lowball bids. Bid on about 25 items, looks like I only won one so far with a few more still to be auctioned. I thought I bid very strongly on the big Gold Hawaii medal (6+ ounces of gold) last night and just lost out on that one. Also bid very strongly on a couple of 1857 Large cents last night and just didn't bid strong enough.
I finally found an 1881 Yorktown Centennial Medal to compliment my Lafayette Dollar. It is graded MS62 by NGC.
Got just one lot, Naftzger sale Lot 737 1846 N-18, 6th finest known (Grellman census) 3rd finest known (Noyes Census)
Congrats everyone. Looks like together we scored 9 wins. That's pretty good. There were a few other lots I was interested in but had to focus on a few to go after. This will help my two cent set a lot.
Can't wait to see what was won - so post pictures when you get them. The ones I liked were out of my league and I am holding off for a bit. Kind of broke right now.
Please show us your new acquisitions once you get them! 900Fine, I would love to see your draped busts. I myself put all my money on a nice capped bust half - but obviously not enough.......
