Hey everyone.. I emailed the photos to myself from my laptop and am having a hard time downloading it to my new computer. I copy and pasted them into the text window, i hope thats ok! This is my current colletion, i am intrigued to see what you all think of the quality and what it might be worth (as a whole). I am working on a 1899 proof set. I have two of the 6 needed... (cant find the others! gggrr) LOL Thanks again for looking and i look forward to hearing your comments!
As you can clearly see.... i am not accustomed to taking close up photos, especially of coins! It took nearly 25 shots to just get these and i dont feel they came out very good! Anyways, thanks again for taking a look! Have a GREAT one!
Welcome to CT. Sorry to say, but none of your pix showed up. You cannot copy and paste the pix into a thread. Look at this thread; http://www.cointalk.com/t8565/
Shekel of Tyre Supposedly the same type coin given to Judas to betray Jesus (biblically speaking...) It cant be graded, but it has been authenticated by PCGS. I have seen a few online go for anywhere between $850 and $1,800...
1806 Drapped Bust Its a low grade, but was more in my price range. My next coin i REALLY want (of this era) is the 1795 Flowing Hair (2 leaves) in 10-12 grade. Just gotta get together the $3,000 for a coin like that!
The beginning of my 1899 Proof Set This is a 1899 50C in Proof 63 Cameo... I am trying to build an 1899 proof set... but am begining to see that nice proof are a bit hard to come by! Let me know what you think!
Thanks to looking everyone! I am looking forward to hearing your responses! I am REALLY loving collecting! Its like holding a piece of history! I have been collecting for about 4 months... I try to set some $ aside from each paycheck to buy coins on my "wish list"! I was wondering what the current "collection" was worth in your (the consumer and fellow collector's) mind! I am trying not to "shotgun" collect.. but i tend to buy coins that i really like... On the other hand, i like the value they provide monetarily! Thanks again for looking everyone!
1899 coins Insidious, I also am collecting the 1899 coins in MS 63 as well as the paper notes. They are beautiful pieces of artwork and I have only to secure the 2 1/2 dollar gold and five dollar Indian Chief note. Why? I do not know. What is their worth? I haven't the slightest idea, nor do I care since they will be passed on to my children when I croak. Thanks!
Welcome to Cointalk - very nice coins! The best way to figure out values for coins like yours is probably to watch auction sites to see what similar coins are selling for. This is assuming you already have a Redbook coin guide, that should be step 1 if you don't. Good luck with your collection! J
After only 4 months of collecting, you already have some nicer coins than I do, after 40+ years. Edit - Just noticed, my 900th post!
LOL.. Thank you! And congrats on the 900th post! I'm aggressively trying to collect coins in a "down market"... I am trying to stay away from a lot of the coins that are HIGHLY marketed as to keep from buying overpriced coins. Thank you again for looking! As stated earlier, my goal is to complete the 1899 Proof Set and then get my "prized" coin (the one i'm salivating to get...) the 1795 Flowing Hair (2 Leaves)... in 8-10...
