Just wondering what you guys think , can a MS-70 Coin recieve a high for the grade or solid for the grade CAC Green Bean . Remember MS-70 is supposed to be perfect . rzage
I say yes. Even though the technical grade is 70, there will be differences in eye appeal. Also, I think all grading services have been too loose with 70 grades.
Yep I've seen some MS-70s with tiny marks , I wonder if CAC ever gave a bean to a MS-70 in real life . rzage
That's a good question, Rusty! I would think only 2 of the CAC stickers can qualify for a MS-70 graded coin and those are the graded correctly sticker and overgraded sticker but the undergraded sticker cannot be used. At least logic dictates that to be the case. Ribbit
Direct quote from their website: "Please note the following: CAC Does Not accept Modern Coins / Bullion Coins." They appear to define "Modern" as anything after 1964. Anyone ever seen an MS-70 coin from 1964 or before? No, SGS doesn't count.
Kanga is correct. That said if a pre '64 coin were to be graded as 70 there is no reason that CAC would not sticker it if they agreed. There are some Morgans that have gotten as high as 69. Not sure if CAC stickered any of these though.
So you are saying the Undergraded CAC sticker can go on a pre-64 MS-70 graded coin? :goof: Can someone explain how a MS-70 graded coin can be defined as undergraded, when there is no higher grade? Since that defies logic, it is NOT possible, thus, I stand by my earlier statement! Ribbit
Well the OP did define high for the grade or solid for the grade, either way they are the grade and should be the green sticker. Unless I missed something.
I was thinking that since MS-70 means it's a perfect coin , the ANA 6th edition says a flawless coin no marks visible under magnification , so if a coin is suppsedly perfect it couldn't be low for the grade , or high for the grade , but we know grading is subjective , and eyeapeal can boost a coins grade so can a perfect coin with beautiful toning get a MS-70 star grade and thus be elgible for a high for the grade sticker. rzage
Are there even any MS70 coins that can get a CAC sticker? Said another way, since the CAC only gives stickers to pre-1964 coins (ref: http://www.caccoin.com/coins-accepted/ ) , are there any MS70's available to review?
This was supposed to be theoryeticle , if there is such a word , I supposed a couple of coins must have gone MS-70 Like a pre '64 proof . JMO rzage
I think I found a coin that might qualify, but there is no photo. http://coins.ha.com/common/view_item.php?Sale_No=336&Lot_No=4944
