I've been watching this for a couple of days and want to see if all of you think it's worth buying it'a at $138.50 with acouple of days left. It'sGermany Saxony Augsburg Confession 1630 Ducat Gold Coin it looks like its been through some ruff times but still it's gold and 379 years old and I want it, so what do you think and yes it's on ebay and ungraded. Thanks Bob
The numismatic book value of this coin in a gradeable VF condition is about $750 ... EF is $1500. The bullion value of this coin is approx. $100-110 With that said here's my 2cents worth... The coin has numismatic quality problems: 1) This coin is appears polished to me and it is has been defaced with grafetti (the initials scratched on the reverse). 2) the flan is very wavy if not bent Because of these problems the numimatic value should be significantly discounted. The current bid is approx. $158 with 2 days to go. It is still way to early and I would rest assured the bids will be going higher .. how high I have no clue. Not knowing your collection standards ... if your looking for a gold coin without problems ... avoid this coin. If you like the design and your not concerned about owning a nice coin (the strike is very nice, it has a very historical background, 379 years old) with "problems" you can consider it ... the worth = $200-300 ???? Would I buy it ............ NO !! But ultimately it will be your coin and your the only person that needs to be satisfied
Sold for $754 ..... I figure at 50% of the numismatic value ($1500). Was it worth it ??? ...... I still say no, but what do I know
