VERY NICE FIND! Just like everyone else I have found a bunch of 98 WAM's but no 99's or 00's. I would send it in to be graded, looks like a really nice coin. Congrats!
i heard the avg. of finding a 99 Wide AM a few years ago was 1 in $500 dollars worth of pennies (50,000) as time marches on, i bet that avg. is rising to more like 1 in $1000 (100,000) pennies I've only found 1 in 100,000 plus you have to be in a east coast location to make your odds better - which i am - Snowman Great Find - BadThad !!!!!!!!!!!!! :thumb:
Searched probably 100,000 to 200,000 coins and found 3 wide AM's 1998. I'm still searching/hoping for that 99.hya:
Babthad that WAM is going to grade very, very high. It's the best circulated one I've ever seen. What a great find for a great and friendly collector. What do you project to do with it after grading. That cent deserves the very best treatment. As a matter of interest, an uncirculated PCGS MS66 '99 WAM' just went for $890 on EB. With less than 10 secs. to go it went from $579 to$890. I feel bids would have gone higher given 20 more seconds. It was a very nice cent. No one asked for better pics which I think they shoud have.zeke
Hi fretboard!, the 1998, 1999, and 2000 WAM's and have the same type of ' FG' initials. See this ' G', that what it has to look like on the WAM's.(see my avatar). Als the bottom of the vertical leg protrudes a little from the curve of the gee. The normal one doesn't have the horizontal serif on the vertical leg of the gee. Or the portrution(protrution???) That is in my opinion this most important clue as to whether the cent is a WAM or not. I've seen spacing of the initials and the base of the right wall and steps so far that ' close ' would be the last thing I would call it. And the sacing of the A and M so close that you'd think" not a WAM". Great hunting, you'll find em'.
Nice find, I just found one recently, check my thread. I found it after searching just 4 rolls. These were the first rolls I've searched in over year.
No, there are the 92, 92D, 98S, 99S Close AM's and the 98, 99, 2000 Wide AM's. The Lincoln Cent Resource website says that the 92 Close AM is extremely rare and the 2000Wide AM is the least rare. You can check it out here www.lincolncentresource.com.
