Today I got 16 coins for $16, which include 4 Mercury dimes, 4 Liberty nickles and 8 buffalo nickles. I will post some pictures after I get home from work. I thought this seemed like a good deal, what does everyone think?
Sort of like saying you bought car for a thousand dollars. Unless someone knows the make, model, year, condition, milage, etc., it is just to vague a question. Just one of the dimes could be worth that or all could be just average not worth much. Need more info.
I was at work at the previous post, but now I'm home, so here are the details: There are actually two Indian Head pennies, four liberty nickles, four mercury dimes, and six buffalo nickles. Here's the dates: - Nickles - 1 1904 Liberty 2 1907 Liberty 1 1911 Liberty 1 1934 Buffalo 1 1935 Buffalo 1 1936 Buffalo (S) 1 1926 Buffalo 1 1927 Buffalo 1 1928 Buffalo - Pennies - 1 1888 Indian Head 1 1892 Indian Head - Dimes - 1 1941 Mercury (D) 1 1942 Mercury 2 1944 Mercury
You did pretty good on this one but I've seen better at auctions. It is amazing the deals that you can sometimes get an a place where no one seems to understand the value of the coins. I once purchased an entire collection of Indian Head cents (minus the 1909S) for $62.50. I estimated the value at over a $1000. After I won the auction, someone behind me asked if I'd buy his pocket change. I'm sure that he thought that I was an idiot. Of course, I was thinking the same thing about the people bidding up the price of stamps, postcards, plates, radios, and cast iron banks.
Photo's look just fine, I'd say you did pretty good. They are nice circ pieces with some good aged crust.
