I have no expertice but I think you did ok.

 

It appears to be a Type 1 (1852? Date is hard to read.).
Should easily grade VF and may make XF (need better pictures to tell).
But I find the color a bit disturbing.
Don't know if that's the way it looks in-hand, but if so I'd suspect it's been cleaned.

But for $18, not a bad deal.
