Just give it the old "once over" and tell me how you'd describe it. My issue isn't with the lack of luster, booming or otherwise; nor is it a cleaning issue (if it was cleaned, it's hardly "market unacceptable" for it). It's rather with the tiny dark spots, especially all over that obverse. They follow the mint flow or polish lines, and there's even some cartwheeling still left on the surfaces for that. OK...I'll quit beating around the bush...do you call that corrosion? Ouch! Notice from the closeup, it's also on the rim. Thanks!
Well, that's good to hear, guys, because I'm actually quite emotionally-attached to this one. She was my first, and she really has a nice personality...even though, I'll be the first to admit, she probably wouldn't really turn your head if you walked by her at a coin show. But, I got to know her, and things were going good...you know how that is...and, so, I asked her, "Do you believe in love at first sight?" And when she turned at me with that warm, inviting eye, and that baby-fine detail in her hair, and replied, "It saves a lot of time," I knew that was my cue, and I confessed my true feelings, and that was the end of that, and we've been together ever since.
Oh, what the hell. Don't you just hate it when you're trying to make an a** out of somebody and your fingers are typing faster than your little brain can think and you end up making a bigger a** out of yourself for it? Regardless...I think that makes us even.
Toning.... it seems to show on both sides correct? I would say some Album toning just unique? It's a nice coin :thumb:
It's on both sides, just a little more prominent on the obverse. Had it a long time, and it wasn't always this way, that's why I thought I'd ask. Thanks, Rigo.
I like it. She has a cool look to her. From the image I would guess it was cleaned long ago and has toned to how it looks now. It will probably get even darker over time. Don't be kissing her.
Then all's well that ends well, Yakpoo. Thanks. And sorry for taking it wrong. EDIT: Just defending the honor of a lady, you understand...
Dark spots, oh no. Time for some sandpaper or a buffing wheel. I would dip that one in battery acid. All just kidding. Leave well enough alone. Just make sure you protect that coin from further Oxydation. Remember Silver coins are similar to the old fashioned Silver ware people used to eat with that had to be cleaned almost all the time. Left in the air, Silver just likes to attract stuff.
