If you notified NGC when the burglary occurred then quite possibly YOU are the reason the slab grade was deleted. That could be one thing NGC does to make a stolen coin more difficult to sell. Many people, when buying a coin, look it up on the certification verification page and having the grade deleted like that is a big red flag for a lot of buyers that something is wrong. And you will note they haven't deleted the slab, just the grade. (Since there is no image I would assume it was slbbed long enough ago that it was from before the imaged every coin slabbed.)

FWIW, we never notified NCG of the thefts and didn't ven know to do such a thing. We just kept check the database hope it would show up in an auction

Of course if NCG cooperated, we would know that for sure.

Wow, I can't imagine the anger you feel about losing such valuable coins. I mean, you did everything you could think of to prevent such a thing from happening. Even if you did tell a lot of people about your collection it still shouldn't have happened. And so what if you let someone have a combination to gain access to your place, so what? Of course, you mentioned having problems with your neighbors, but that shouldn't be a problem, right? And you apparently know someone who has financial problems, but you no doubt said nothing about your collection to him I suppose. I think, for your own peace of mind and going forward, you should consider hiring a personal security guard. I mean, if you can't trust the police with your personal safety why not?

just another excuse of being soft on crime... blame the victims wah wah wah... crime is OK and you deserve it... wah wah wah. You have to look yourself in the mirror John, and realize you are part of the problem. You condone theft.

We have six adult children, and two house keepers, and a supper. They ALL have access to the apartment. You spent all that energy to prove yourself to be selfish and a jerk. Congratulations. When you shave in the morning, do you view yourself as one of the good men in the world, or one of the bad ones? Seriously.

    haters are going to hate.

BTW - the house was locked up. This kind of crime can happen to anyone when con theft is excused and condoned.

I keep my coins in a safe deposit box. I sometimes question the cost of $250 per year. In the past Ive reduce the inventory by removing the larger US Mint boxes. Im down to 1 large box. Im my area safe desposit boxes are in short supply. Do you guys use safes?

I have three SDBXs in two different banks. Two new bank branches have opened in my neighborhood neither of them offer SDBXs. You're right, they are becoming rare. Probably too much operating overhead makes them undesirable.

To me it seems as if Rueben is back via cplradar. If I am not mistaken this all happened several years ago and he is still trying to blame the NYPD. It is about time to put this to bed and QUIT WASTING our time. It is my opinion (everyone has one and it seems that cplradar has SEVERAL) that the entire family wants to blame everyone else for their short comings. As a retired police detective, it was our job to do the investigation until we had no further leads to follow to bring the case to an end. It was NOT our responsibility to advise ANYBODY excepting a direct order from a superior or a judge to release ANY DETAILS of a pending investigation for fear of throwing up road blocks to the investigation. All of our findings were contained in the case book and that is NOT PUBLIC DOMAIN. The individual cplradar, admits that several people knew of the coin collection, family members and others and then Abba states that his daughter, her friend, the super, a man that ran errands for him AND HAD THE COMBINATION and his employer etc. etc. etc. all knew about it. They said there was no evidence of forced entry into the apartment. Well if there was no evidence of forced entry, you have to start looking at ALL people, family included as being suspect. (NOT pointing fingers, just stating fact) Your continued disparaging remarks about the NYPD are NOT warranted. That is your opinion (remember, everyone has one) and yours is wrong. Police are not able to prevent burglaries such as yours, burglaries are referred to as targets of opportunity. T.O.O. are developed by people running their mouths about their possessions and where they keep them. It appears that the family uses the dependency mindset as stated by master swimmer. Cplradar has made so MANY misstatements in his diatribe concerning the police that it would take another couple of days to point them out to him and it would serve no purpose.
THE LAST THING I WOULD LIKE TO POINT OUT: It was stated earlier in one of the texts that the website www.mrbrklyn.com throws up a red flag when use try to access it and suggest that you do not proceed. Cplradar said then don't use that particular (Norton) security browser, OK, I didn't and mine came up "this website is blocked due to reputation and malicious activity. In my humble opinion and based on experience, there are several things that do not add up.
PLEASE STOP POSTING SOMETHING THAT HAPPENED SEVERAL YEARS AGO BECAUSE YOU ARE UPSET WITH THE POLICE!

Wouldn't such a collection warrant insurance? I mean no disrespect, but what would have happened if a fire destroyed your collection? Would the fire department be blamed?

Quite a rant and your wrong in all the details. I have serious problems believing your a retired Detective. So, lets straighten you out on the facts. First, I am not Ruben. Second http://www.mrbrklyn.com is not malicious. Its the family website. It has terrible things like pictures of children, and museums and coins. That just blows a hole in your integrity right there, if not your reasoning ability. Lastly, this is not a thread about cops. If you want to love cops, bring it to another thread. As a fact, there has never been an investigation by the NYPD. We were informed about this fact from the NYPD when we attempted to recently fetch the police report. and PLEASE, if you are going rant, use a word processor or something so your are legible. I'm not the best writer, but your rant is or snead needs some punctuation.

Finally, how can you have been a police office if you can't write a simple essays? Cops write reports all the time. Your just being a bigot. If someone says anything negative about the cops, your ride off on your horse, throwing as much dirt around and possible. What you wrote is abusive, inaccurate and character assignation. It shows emotional instability. Please take your emotional hang up and hostility somewhere else.

One last point, your rambling here defends criminals. That doesn't make you one of the good guys.

All right, more reports on this thread, and more flaming. I'm tired of it. But I've decided to lock it down rather than remove it altogether.

PS- if Doug decides to unlock it again later, that's fine by me. His call.

I wouldn't hold your breath, though.
