I would like to get a readable example of a barber half, quarter, and dime, a victory nickel, a buffulo nickel, mercury dime, and the liberty standing coins for my grandchildren without giving up my house. These can be very well worn but I would like to be able to read the dates and see all the attributes. Can someone point me in the right direction!!! Thanks biggie:loud:
I would think any local coin dealer should have those. Nothing that you have listed are hard to come by for common dates and should be very affordable. You don't need "key date" coins, just a common date would be great. Here is an example of a 1883 Liberty Head Nickel (V Nickel) I found on eBay just now. This coin sold for about $7 including shipping. It's a common date, in this case the first year of issue. My local coin dealer always has a bunch of low grade silver that he sells for 12X to 15X face. Includes both Barber and Walker halves, Barber and Liberty Standing quarters, Barber and mercury dimes.... also V nickels and Buffalos with nice readable dates, which are usually priced around seventy-five cents. I think you should easily be able to get a nice example of all these coins (in the VG range) for a total of $25 to $30. Of course, I live only five miles from my dealer... not everyone has a coin store that close.
