:hammer: A man i know has two sovereigns 1908 and 1915 on ebay. two days left they are 9 bids so far. 160 pounds to date i phone him and he has left them to me for 320 euros The pic is hes what do u think Ps he lives only 40miles from me and needs to know tonight Thanks in advance Dave
I doubt that you're going to get any definitive answers based solely on those photos. English sovereigns are not my cup of tea, but similar photos of coins within my specialty would absolutely not be sufficient for me to opine on their genuineness or quality.
I think that price in Euros equates to about $223 each. That sounds about right IF they are genuine. But 1) you don't know if they are and 2) you should be able to get them for about that price elsewhere without taking the risk. So I see little upside and lots of downside. When you're in a hurry as you are and don't know what you're doing, it's a recipe for trouble. I suggest that you politely tell the seller that you appreciate his very fair offer, but that you're not going to be buying anything at the present time.
They look like nice coins. Are you going through ebay and then pick them up or are you going to have him cancel the auctions. Hope he doesn't mind breaking ebay rules if he cancels.
reply they are genuine i have got some half soverigns and a 10 franc coins last year but i only paid 70 euros each for them so iam just trying are they too high a price at 160 each at present gold prices Dave
I already answered your question about the price. If you think I'm mistaken, why not do some research of your own.
Now that's the best advice I've seen on here in a long time. Pay no attention to confirming genuineness. Pay no attention to market value. Pay no attention to accuracy of the pictures. Just BUY!
update i agree with both of you but i dount know if someome here at coin talk is biding on this coin please pm me but since i posted this someone has up the price to 260 pounds but i will get these coins even if i have to pay more than they are worth Dave
Why would you pay more than they are worth? A 1915 full sovereign is a really classy coin, I happen to have a half sovereign 1915. Wish I had a full sovereign but I wouldn't pay more than $260 USD. I thought you were going to get them for 160 pounds which is around $233 USD. I'd say if you can get them for the 160 pounds go for it. If you really want one of them then I suggest you get the 1915. Do yourself a favor and do not pay more than $260 for either one because with the spot price of gold hovering around $958 or so you will be paying too much. The full sovereign is a 1/4 oz. or there abouts doing a quick breakdown the most you should pay is around $240. Just my 2 cents, now good luck, take a deep breath, relax and stay away from an impulse buy. I've done many and a well planned out purchase is always better and never pay more than $20 over spot if you are able. The $260 is fine but not any more than that. again good luck Oh and read this link: http://www.cointalk.com/t67655/#post676730
Well a good con...always starts with a rush. Go to the house, gun in your face, money all gone. Greed and a hustle. Just have Patience, you can get a sovereign for $200 USD at times. Traci
lol biggiej i was thinking it was the butler in the liveing room Lol Just got them 320 euros for both Will post pics after awhile Dave
What's the sellers rush all about? Take the sound advice given above and assert your willingness to buy if you can see the coins in your hands. Euros or dollars, thats alot of dough. If the seller needs the cash he'll cooperate. Just my very humble uneducated opinion.
thanks :thumb: Thanks for all your help Here are the pics At 320 they are not that much over melt today gold price in euros is 667 per oz The 1915 seams to have a stracth Dave Ps What do u think?
You have asked a number of questions and for opinions in this thread, and yet, you seem to have disregarded each of them, having already decided what you were going to do anyway. Why ask in the first place?
