Say I wanted to find the highest graded brown cent for a particular year how would you go about that? I am not talking about anything in the big bucks, I know there has to be some MS67 Browns out there, or some of the more commen modern coins, that is what I am asking about.
    Thanks Kent

Do you mean so you can purchase one - or - just to find out what it is ?

The latter you can find out by checking the pop reports listed on the appropriate company's web site. The former, just luck and extreme persistance.

Teletrade and to a lesser extent Heritage and Ebay auction sites are decent places to look. Be aware of all charges (fees, shipping, handling, taxes) before bidding, because on low cost coins the fees can take a big bite on Teletrade and Heritage. Be aware that if a coin is pop 5/0 in MS67 BN or similar, the odds of finding one for sale or for auction are extremely low and the hunt may be a very long one. In some cases, if the coins are very low pop, but not worth much money, it can be more time efficient to look for the best raw examples and submit yourself.

Most dealers don't stock this kind of material. The very few dealers that do have inventory tend to charge top dollar. In general, there aren't enough coins, and they don't cost enough money for dealers to specialize and make a living in this kind of material.
