I visited Venezuela about 10 years ago. There are some beautiful coins and beautiful people in Venezuela. For the last 2 decades, Venezuela has been the most successful of all countries in the Miss Universe contests. The current Miss Universe is from Venezuela.

    Very best regards,

I was in Ciudad Bolivar in Venezuela and was able to pick up some very nice silver coins from that country. I'll have to try to post some pics. Too bad conditions are such I don't dare to return to visit the sites and people of that wonderful country.

I like the 1930s Bolivars because I can usually get them at, or barely above, the spot price. Does anyone know if there are any rare dates for those?

The 1936 5 centisimo coin was minted at the Philadelphia mint. The 25 Bolivar or 1/2 Bolivar from 1929 and 1935 where also minted at the Philadelphia mint. The 25 cent coin from the Netherlands was also minted at the Philadelphia mint. If you look at the reverse of the Netherlands coin you will see a P on the right side by the date.

According to the Krause catalog, the 1930 2-Bolivares is worth much more than bullion in any grade. They made 1/2 million that year compared to the million+ other years.

I wouldn't hold an entire country accountable for their leader being a complete tool. Hopefully our country and it's people surpassed the reputations of the bad seeds we have had in office in the past.

Buying coins in Venezuela is usually only possible in antique stores, Tater do you remember where in CB you bought coins?

BTW, while there are certain countries in which it is currently difficult or dangerous to visit, Venezuela is not one of them. Personal experience speaking.
