Wow DCH THANX! You must be a walking encyclopedia. What is your method for identifying things so quickly. Do you just know through experience or do you have refernences that help you. I just bought thse off the bay for $27 cuz I thought they were interesting and it looks like a few might even be worth some money based on a few of the examples you found. That Bishops of Maguelonne crusade coin is especially interesting. Thanx again! Daz
This is a jeton made by Hans Krauwinckel. It's a Rose and Orb issue of Nuremburg made in the mid-17th Century. Kindest Regards, Clive.
Reference books make it possible-- I had eight books on my desk for this bunch. Experience/luck make it fast--Experience to know which book. Luck to find and recognize it in the book. For example, the Maguelonne piece was in a book with 10,000+ pictures, 3 of which were relevant.
'Cut coin', bottom left last group of four--I think this is an Austrian Pfennig, probably Albrecht IV or V, early 1400's.
