I don't know about you all, but boy, do I love the Indian head $5 piece.

    Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous coin!

Anyone here own any? What is your favorite year?

1911d seems to be good but can't find that anywhere online.

Yes that is one of the few great designs on coins. I too have several sets of the Pennies (cents for the sensitive). Ever wonder if the same Indian posed for the Nickel? Wonder if he got paid in Pennies?
SO how come we don't have a silly face for ?'s.

They are one of my favorite designs. Also like the $10 Indians too. Here's a couple of my Indian $5 coins.

If you're looking for a really tough one try to find a nice looking AU 1909-O $5 with a clear mintmark. Good luck!!!! ;)

These coins are very expensive in MS. The best one I have is an AU58 graded by ANACS and then PCGS by the same grade.

I also love the design. It was actually said that people didn't like the design because people thought they would trap germs and spread disease.

    Here's mine:

I got that 1909-O from Laura at Legend, I also got the 1929. They took a bunch of random coins I had for trade and gave top prices that I don't think I could have gotten anywhere else including auction to make the trade happen.

It's an intriguing design, mostly because it's different.
    Incused elements.
But it's a real pain for the average collector to grade.

I think all of the Indian gold pieces , especially the obverse of the $2.5, $5 and also the $10 are incredible designs.

I do not have anything against Lincoln cents but it interesting to me to that one can get some nice examples of these gold pieces at less than a some of the Lincoln cents.

BNB: Do big time homework on these coins and be SUPER careful buying off eBay or anywhere else if you consider a raw unslabbed coin. I know by now that you prefer NGC and PCGS and these are some gorgeous and pricey coins in upper grades, so do the work and definitely get your self some examples of these coins. The 2nd Edition of A Handbook of 20th Century United States Gold Coins 1907-1933 would help you immensely in understanding the subtle differences and rarity of such coins.
