I think these are remarkable-looking. Just get a load of that fancy edge. India since succumbed (if you will) and modified them to look like batting-cage tokens. But, these ones, I absolutely adore. Maybe I can also, along with the grade, get a mintage and book value, as well as opinions on that nice spread in the date. I already know these don't go for much on eBay, so you're not going to be full of news informing me of that. Thanks!
i just got about 200 of them in BU. you have them from the bombay mint. you have the type 2 variety i think never the less it is not the common variety but you rlions do not have the teeth so all in all a nice coin you can get it for 5 bucks but still a neat coin and it looks unc to me. so tell me where did u get it?
BTW india didnt succumb after that the other coins are also pretty good from 1982-1991. the 1991 to 2004 series is a lil dull but it got spiced up 2005-2006 and since 2007 they came out with coins where strike should be an element of grade
wow spock... didnt even know the lions had "teeth" in fact the pic here is the best close-up i have seen... been ages since i have seen this coin in circulation and sadly i think it wont be in circulation any more
the above one comes in 3 varieities u have to looka t whiskers teeth the pedastal the bull (if it has been renegraved) and the edge design ( thickness and depth) the coat of the lions i cant believe i studied these coins in so much depth they will never be worth real money like the double eagles in my life time
Thx you guys, this is all helpful opinions and fact. Got it in a Coinstar bag of halves years ago (the magnets missed it, so it ended up in the bag). I really do love this thing. Thx again!
cool! I had come to believe these are quite scarce since I've always had trouble locating unc examples. Do you think this is untrue? I know they're cheap but that's the way it is with many moderns. I'd grade the coin a nice AU but it's hard to tell from the picture.
well when you start seeing 2 of everything thats rare but u r right its strike doubling from a period when there was still QC so great job :thumb:
That edge is interesting-looking. Did you know it's not unique to India? I know that because I have British Hong Kong coins with that same exact edge. Did I mention I love this coin?
yes eddie u did and even i started liking it... funny how one dont appreciate or value something when it is mass circulation and suddenly one fine day its gone and u wake up to its value/beauty... that my story for this coin... but it still turns up in circulation once in a blue moon..
no no you are looking for the reeded edge security edges are not rare for indian coins i am glad you love the coin. if you send me gold coins ill send you more of these to love
well you can buy these all day long for under $2 so its not rare from that perspective but it is quite hard to get in circulation. so you guys believe in blue moons. heavens save us
I LOVE that! But hey, I thought you said mine was the uncommon variety and worth 5-bucks. So don't you go lumping it with those common 2-buckers, my feelings is going to get hoit!
its already hot eddie unfortunately the market is full of people who cant differentiate between vf and unc. the entire indian collection from 1950 to 2007 can be had for 6 grand and u might get 65 or u might get vf 20 in that pack. its really the pits but dont worry i endorse your coins
