hello all i was searching for help when i found your site, may i search nomore found this coin? in the bottom of an auction box . just tried to add picture ,must be dumb cause cant figure it out .sorry help please thanks ej
Howdy ej - Welcome to the Forum !! If you will - Clcik Here - you will find a very good explanation of how to post pics
hello and help again does anyone have any idea about this coin . i went through the standard catalog of world coins from front to back, couldnt find it. thanks GDJMSP.
The picture is so tiny it can't be made out. How about a written description? Blind guess: a pre-decimal British penny?
coin is about 25 mm and thinner than a dime ,arabic script ,brass?,date i , reverse 7, reverse 7, reverse 7. am trying to enlarge the coins. but having trouble.sorry
ej - try cropping the picture to remove all the white background and leaving just the coin with a small amount of white around the outer edges of the pic. That should do the trick
The Arabic date sounds like 1222 which is roughly equivalent to 1808AD. Gold and low grade silver coins were predominant then so if this is brass it may be some kind of token or more modern replica used for jewelry.
well i finally did it . so is it coin, token or a Knock off. i leave it up to those with more knowledge.thanks for any replies.
I have a smaller piece (18mm) myself with the same date. I'll stick with my cheap jewelry or decoration theory.
My thought exactly. There is also a regnal year date (the year of the reign of the current ruler) on Ottoman coins. The date on both of these pieces is 76 which is not possible so is purely meant to be a fantasy date.
same thing I have a coin (?) just like that, hole and all, I coundn't come up with an ideal of what it is, it looks like gold but is too light, the belly dancer theory works for me. Makes the coin more interesting anyway.
