I agree! :thumb: http://coinfacts.com/large_cents/matron_head_large_cents/1818_large_cents/1818_large_cent_n10.htm That one is an easy one to attribute. :goofer: Ribbit
Since it has already been atrributed I'll just say that is a great first 1818. Nice color and luster with no distracting marks.
How do you know? If you don't mind me asking. I see a lot of high grade coins(around that date) that are advertised as Randal Hoard, but how can anyone be sure at this point.
Interesting die crack between the stars. It a wonder the hold outer edge of the die turned into a cud leaving just the center.
Well you can't be 100% sure, but if you've looked at enough of the coins from this hoard, you'll quickly figure out that they look very very similar. Most have that blue-green toning and virtually all of them are spotted to some extent. Here's a post I made some time ago on coins from this hoard: http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php/ubb/showflat/Number/1535672/site_id/1#import Or do a search on mint state 1820 N-13 or 1818 n-10 at Heritage and draw your own conclusions...Mike
Thanks for the link, that's a great story. I still can't get used to your forum name here. I'm so used to your name on the NGC and PCGS forums. Although, who am I to talk as mine is different here too.
