In my hometown in Illinois someone did this every year for the Salvation Army during Christmas

 

It's always heartwarming to hear people doing this...I wouldn't consider it 'rare' but it was a generous donation to say the least. It makes you smile and think that there are alot of good people in the world.

 

I was trying to wonder if it was a mistake or not, but it probably wasn't. It's also a good thing the firefighters knew it was worth more than face value, otherwise it might've ended up in a roll somewhere

 

I'd love to be able to afford to do this generous act. I'd of course have to own a few gold coins first!

 

Very Generous, it is awesome that there are still people out there who believe in giving like this.
