In searching through my girlfriend's spare change box I discovered three 1979 Susuan B Anthony dollars, but interestingly enough, they were each from a different mint! All randomly acquired at different times she said. Anyway, thought it was kinda neat!

Very neat. I was able to purchase 25 SBA's at an auction a year ago for $25 plus tax. How could I go wrong? I was quite surprised later to find 79P, 79D, 79S, 80P, 80D, 80S, 81P, 81D, 81S, 99P (several), and 99D (several). Although I didn't get any of the rare varieties, it did fill help complete some empty holes in my collection, especially for the 80and 81 years.

I just started collecting, but want to get a set of 99's for sure as well as 2000 Sacajaweas, but this is a great start

What are the chances? Did she intentionally put each one in or was it random? If it was by chance that is pretty cool.

Isn't the S mint a proof only issue on these? It would seem somone decided they needed the quick dollar over the proof premium.

Sweet. I have read somewhere to check the eagles talons, the more detail, the better. Even heard talk of a special designation (like FBL ot FS) but not sure if that is only speculation.

'79, '80, and '81 "S" were business strike as well as proof...

thnx for all the info. my girlfriend just throws all her "silver" change in a box, so when I started getting addicted to staring at coins for extended periods about a month ago, she brought over a box with about $150 to go through. The mint mark set was completely random. So far I've only gone through the dollar coins and state quarters because I've been going through a childhood collection i recently rediscovered as well.
