I'd like to see pics or at least, supply us with the slab details, since the Chinese are also counterfeiting PCGS slabs. :headbang: There's a list available with all the known serial numbers being used and the OP should check to make sure the one they have is authentic all-around. :goofer:

    Ribbit :)

Even if the supposed coin is worth 15K book, no dealer in the world will pay that for it. Most pay between 50-60% tops, so you'll be lucky to come out with 8K.

I disagree with that completely coleguy. You have to pay a fair price for key date coins and 50-60% percent is not fair. Any respectable dealer will pay 10-20% back of greysheet bid for a coin like that. It's an easy coin to move. AU bid is $18,500 in the sheets.

You should expect to get close to that $15k from a decent dealer.

Sorry guys ive been busy. The coin is a 1893-s MORGAN AU50.

The reason I want cash is because when that much money changes hands on a non-business realated account, heads turn. The bank, IRS, creditors, litigators can all see those funds. Although I plan on paying my taxes, its not the IRS business every transaction I make.

You could always trade the dealer for gold bullion.

They will kill you for 2 bucks on many streets in many cities. Being anywhere close to an advertised event with that kind of money on your person is suicide,,, IMHO.

I'll go along with that. Around me it isn't safe to even let people know you have anything above that 2 dollar range. Wonder how long someone would last on the South Side of Chicago with that much cash.

As long as they don't advertise it they'll last as long as the guy with 2 bucks in his pocket.

Per my credit union they told me if I brought in 15k in cash they would have to report it. But for checks I did not need to worry about it. They only need to report cash. Plus with my dealer I know he can and does pay cash, but he always records all transactions. Not sure what he would pay for a 1893-S AU50 morgan.

Interesting thread - I tool my bullion and commemorative coins down in several lots. On some I swapped for other coins, but usually had him give me a check for the balance. So far I have not had a problem.

That's a great idea, and then he could sell it off little by little which would not require any paper work.
