Hi. I'm new here. I found this dime with a front, but no back. Here is a link to the image.

It is as smooth as it can be. (those are fingerprints on the back). Any idea of the value?
    Thanks in advance,

The reverse was machined off outside the mint. It's not a minting error.

The dimple in the center, the faint spiral arms extending from the central dimple, and the exposure of the copper core in spots. If you weigh the coin, you'll find it significantly underweight. A normal clad dime weighs around 2.28 grams.

I see the dimple, some outwardly spiraling machine marks and a rim. If it was altered I wonder how it was done……hmm

Some type of lathe, I would wager

I don’t know. A lath tool would leave a spiral grove pattern that whould looks more like little tree rings. A sander maybe?

I have a 1971 Kennedy half that looks exactly the same way. Someone suggested to me that it might have once been used as a magician's trick coin or something similar. The obverse looks so genuine that I can't believe it wasn't an actual business strike Kennedy at some point.

I'd guess with an NC milling maching
