    German State: Burnswick-Luneburg-Calenberg
    Denomination: 4 Taler
    Year: 1685

This is a large (75mm) 4 Taler piece. It will be on its way to NGC. I had a friend that specializes in this series of Talers check it out for me. It is the real deal. I bought it at auction a few years ago, and I want it protected in a slab. When I go to the bank, I will photograph a 5 Taler piece I have locked away in a safety deposit box, to show you guys. Hope the photo is ok.

The Austrain Taler I'm sending in for a cross-over from ICG to NGC. It is graded ICG AU-55, of which I feel its an AU-58.

It is a very big coin. The 4 Talers were also minted in 80mm and 86mm diameter. There are also 5, 6, 8 and 10 Taler coins. I've never seen the 8 or 10 Taler pieces, and I can only wounder as to how big they are.

    Wow!! Wow!!

I would trade my wife for the 4 Taler :thumb::thumb::thumb: EXCELLENT!!

The Charles VI piece may goto MS with NGC. I believe the detail/luster is there.

On the 4 Taler piece, could you tell me if that is Jewish letters at the upper right.

The Charles VI piece looks to be mint state, as I can not see any worn spots at all.

The Hebrew Letters are: Y H V H - in Hebrew meaning Jehovah, the name of God.

Thanks. Did you see any Talers above 5 at that show in NYC ? I'd like to get an 8 Taler at some point. I'll see you there in January.

    Wow. That's pretty big.

Could you tell me more about it? Who's the chick with the banjo?

That is one grumpy looking dude on the obverse. Does this require a larger than normal NGC slab?

The 4 Taler needs a large slab. The 1733 Taler will fit in a normal slab.

She is a lute player. Here is some info about such pieces (note that the inscription mentioned in that article differs from the one here):
    http://www.money.org/AM/Template.cfm?Section=Home&Template=/CM/HTMLDisplay.cfm&ContentID=7216

The article does not explain, however, why the lute player is depicted. Guess that is an allusion to a place named Lautenthal (lit. Lute/s Valley) in Lower Saxony which used to have a silver mine. So I suppose the woman is Fortuna with a lute ...
