I was looking for prices for my old coin collection, and i came through two bids on Ebay for 2008 King tut and Cleopatra coins, The 1 pound and the Half pound. The prices to start the bid is unbelievable and absurd. Check these links, http://cgi.ebay.com/Egypt-2008-King...01QQcategoryZ48024QQcmdZViewItem#ht_833wt_754 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=370247195385#ht_833wt_754 I live in Egypt, therefore i can tell that these coins have no numismatic value what so ever. Maybe the 2005 Half pound coins which were minted with a larger size and then stopped, even the 2005 wouldn't be subject to these prices. Please beware of these bids, as its completely false and totally wrong. Take care all Cheers,
Thanks for sharing and being a Coin Talk member. You are a good asset to the numismatic profession! Clinker
Well you see, even though some coins may be worth just face value, there are buyers out there who don't have any connection to the countries that they are interested in collecting. They are more than happy to pay good money to have them in their collection and hence, sellers may get the idea that it can be profitable.
So true what you have just said, I ve been hearing about regular Egyptian currency (coins and banknotes), being sold in the states for more than its face value by hundreds of dollars. I noticed there weren't a lot of Egyptians on Coin Talk. So I am glad to be this connection, regarding Egypt. Cheers,
