If you are a coin collector like myself, you are always looking for a way to find old U.S. coins without having to purchase and pay outrageous prices for them. Here is the way. Go to your local bank, one that is national or regional is recommended because they are more willing to give pennies in large quantities. Take $20, $30, $40, or even $50 to the bank and ask for pennies. You will be amazed at what you can find! Even if you are just finding regular dates, it is still free and the wheaties will only increase in value! Just today I took 20 bucks to the bank and got 2000 pennies. I had a streak of luck and found a 1928 & 1929 in VF condition. Along with 64 other wheat pennies. I was handed a solid roll of 1945 pennies ranging from g4 to xf40!!! Give it a shot, if you aren't happy take them back and dump them into the coin machine. GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!
I do it all the time. Had some luck also. Found 30 rolls of old wheats and 20 rolls of a mixture of old wheats and old memorials one day.
be easy on him he's just like me I always ask the same questions that have been talked to death, but I didn't know when i asked. Oh by the way great finds. Kent
Wheaties Welcome to CoinTalk! Roll searching gets even more fun when you are looking for errors and varieties. My Avatar (1982 DDR) was found in a roll from the local bank. Richard
I posted in the roll searching thread a few day ago that I opened to bank rolls in a row with a 1943 S Steel Penny. I couldnt believe it, had never found them in a bank roll before in my life... both in pretty good shape too.
WELCOME TO THE FORUM Yes if you stick around here you will see the same subjects poping up all the time. Usually the ones that do are in the form of a question though. Occationally someone does pop up with information that too has been here many, many times. Some even copy something from somewhere and put in here for attention. Regardless, there is always new people here so repeating some items is esential and so many just get confused or irritated with that standard "Go to the Search thing at the top". So if you have time to say that, why not just answer the question instead is my way of thinking. Now just for your info, if you have a bank that will take or give out quantities of any coins, best hurry up with that. Around me that has almost stopped due to people doing just that. Now many banks require a buisness account for any transactions with coinage otherwise there are charges for giving out or taking in coins. Bank of America is now instituting a policy of when you bring in any large amount of coins, they are shipped out for counting. There is a charge for that. And you must have an account for the total to be entered or there is another charge for that too. Bank of America will no longer order halves nor take them in but if you do bring them in, they will be sent to the Federal Researve and the amount entered into your account. No account, then a charge even if ONE coin. Individuals that have played the take out and return large coinage for collecting purposes are creasting this.
