That's extreme Machine doubling and can bring a preimium on ebay and is considered an error.

It's MD considered by a few as an error and by most on e-bay.

What do they say about E-BAY OH! "There is a sucker born every minute, but if it works go for it".
    Thanks for looking.

That is a nice clear doubling, I think it would look nice in an album. :)

Every coin in an album shoud have a different look or story IMO.

Many professional collecters consider them as damage, not an error. The mint does as well.

Do you have a link to info on this? I have never heard of any profesional saying that a coin with Machine Doubling is considered damaged. I would understand them saying it is not a variety.

It's MD for sure but it's a keeper in my book. A lot of collectors may tell you, that's not how it's done. I just reply, then I'll do things different. :)

ON that note, if you think it is worth keeping ,keep it. I personally would not, because I already have a million pennies clogging up my brain in my house:smile

I am a collector not a seller, I have mint sets, proofs and all kinds of coins but this sums it up.

Every coin in an album shoud have a different look or story.

Thanks for sharing your opinions Cheryl

I'll be darned. "The fact that MDD is damage to the struck coin and reduces the collector value rather than increasing it is a bitter pill to swallow"

Granted it is stated these are just his thoughts it is interesting to me that I have seen coins with Machine doubling graded as normal coins.

Based on the article you linked PCGS or NGC should put these in genuine holders as damaged.

I am thinking that the jury is still out on this. I would like it if we could get more opinions on this from folks like Mark Feld who I believe used to grade at NGC.

There ya go. Different strokes for different folks.

And just for Cheryl...just to show you I'm not talking through my hat when I tell you I keep these when I find them, too:
