I like most dark beers/ Guinness is another story. My favorite is Corona/ ice cold with lime. Always pack 2-3 in my cooler when I am out doing my lawn work, esp. on those awfull hot/ muggy days.;)

didn't even know Corona made a dark beer! I see they are advertising again...they might even survive the virus! :-D I haven't had a beer in years but i liked Corona but i loved a creamy Foster or Sapporo. I even liked a Chinese beer Tsing Tsao (i think i wrote that correctly).

I laugh thinking how many years Mom tried to get me to eat cabbage - especially in her boiled dinner. When i discovered how DELISH it was, I agreed to allow myself to try okra again. I like okra now but only if sliced longitudinally (that way the slimy stuff doesn't run out and helps the slivers get all toasty brown and NO slime). I cook them in a screaming hot pan with a couple of drops of olive oil.

So, the only think I still don't like is rhubarb.

I meant from all the beers, I have tried, since my first taste, back when I was five. My Grandpa/ Dad took me to the village tavern, my Opa let me have a sip from his glass, the bar keep noticed that, asked me if I liked it. I said/ YES. Five minutes later he came back, gave me a little glass on the house. Here in Canada, it would have got him fired, Germany has much more sane rules with alcohol. In moderation, beer/ wine are OK, cannot say the same for drugs/ which ruin peoples lives/ health.

John, Happy St. Patrick's Day to you as well :D! I'm not a beer drinker on cold days so I'll settle for some Jameson Whiskey left over from last year :p. Great display of coins. I love that FDC Lombard Tremissis . The Lombards were a power in Italy until Charlemagne swept them out .

I LOVE sauerkraut/ red cabbage cooked in wine! I always stew up rubarb, mash it/ add sugar. I then spread the cold rhubarb on toast, so good in Summer.

    Thanks Al!
Me too, I cannot drink beer from October to mid April. I crave it when working in 25+ degree days/ even more on those 35+ scorchers. I might sound crazy, I love a mug of Red Rose tea with 3 teaspoons sugars. 2 oz. realemon juice/ more British then Germanic.;)

Happy St Pat's Day. My grandmother was born in Ireland in the late 19th Century (about 1885). The house where she was born had been in the family for over 500 years at the time she was born. The home is still in our family and a different generation is living there. Perhaps St Pat visited them. Here are some photos of the old home place.

Well, it's a bit early as St. Patrick's Day is on the 17th March, but many happy returns :D

Here's a medal from last year with the obverse recreating the smaller of the St Patrick's halfpennies (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St_Patrick_halfpenny).

The coin fair in question was in late February 2020 and was the last one I managed to attend before the continuing lockdown.

I have a very worn example of such a halfpenny, but no photo', so this will have to do!

    ATB,
    Aidan.
