He's not really a big collector, but he does pull what he finds from circulation. Here is what I found: Quarters: 1943 and 1956, Dime: 1951, Nickles: 1943 (2) and 1945 These are all from 1950 or earlier, mostly from 1939 to 1941. Not sure what this coin, or where it's from. Wheaties from circulation, and an old Canadian Penny.
Zage its a modern Chinese fake dragon. Kid put a magnet on Dad's coin and tell us what happens. Traci
He knew I went through them. I do some collecting of my own, and I have a lot more than he does, but I have bought all that I have. He has got all of his stuff the fun way. He said that he has had some of them for years. The dragon coin is counterfeit, because the magnet does stick to it, that's one of the first things I did when I saw it. I have a similar Chinese coin that is also counterfeit. Just search my username, matthew88, and you can see what all I have.
Still haven't mentioned if those are now yours or are you just borrowing them? I suggest if you do get those from him that you consider starting Albums for them to protect them. If not, just 2x2's.
Can you look at some of the mint marks on these coins? I see a Washington quarter with a mintmark and some Lincolns with them too. Sometimes, these can be worth a "pretty penny".
He still has them, and they are still his; I just looked through them. He keeps them in a jewelry box. Here is what all I found: 5 Ike Dollars: • 3 1971: one D, two no MM's. • 1 1972 D • 1 1976: no MM 9 Kennedy Half Dollars: • 3 1971: two D's, one no MM. • 1 1976: No MM. • 1 1985 P • 1 1988 P • 1 1990 P • 1 1993 P • 1 1997 P The pennies that had mint marks were 1926, 1946, 1955, and 1957; all with D mint mark. The mint mark on the Quarter was a D (1943-D), the other quarter was 1957; I think I originally said 1956. It had no mint mark. The mint marks on the Nickles were two 1943-P's, and a 1945-S. There are more pics below. Sorry some of them are blurry.
