I bought this Morgan about 3 months ago. It was before I sold my 1893s. While it was not cheap, it went for less than I would have expected. Blue toning is one of my favorites.
63+. What a beauty! I am also a sucker for blue toning I would rather pay 25% more for a coin with blue toning as opposed to one with a more "normal" color.
That cut's a real distractor but the fields are too clean for a straight-up 63. I think I'm with William on this one, 63+.
I said 64* because I like the color. If it weren't for the scratch in a very focal area it could well be a 65 or higher.
I'm with the horsey-avatar guy on this. No better than 63 due to the nick on the cheek, but the rest of the coin looks Gem. So while my initial impression was 63, I'll concur with 63+.
My understanding of the “+” is, start at the grade, bid it to the Moon for the color, you have our permission should you be so inclined...
I'm with @William F - Oh, I do love blue toning! I'm terrible at grading MS coins, but I'll go with 64.
I will say MS66 + as I don't think that one small hit on an otherwise nice cheek will bring it down that much.
Nobody yet. Hint—don’t make the mistake of “counting the bagmarks” on Morgans, especially specially ones, like PL, DMPL, and high end toners. Think overall appeal of the coin.
