What is This ?

    Weighing 12.35 g., this worn silver coin has like an owl on obverse and a possible ship on reverse. So strange. Is it authentic and Greek ? Thanks for your kind help. Silvy.JPG

    That almost looks like a hippocamp(facing right) to me.

    Not particularly rare. There are various designs and devices on these that can help in attribution. If you search Vcoins or acsearch for "Tyre hippocamp" you'll find them.

    It is listed as a Dishekel with a weight of 12.8g XF condition. Date 480 BC.

    Many Thanks to all of you guys. I didn't like this coin from the beginning, due to very low condition and roughness. Fortunately I did not own it .
