Definitely. But in a few instances I have found Silver Coins in just a 2 or 3 inches deep. Depends on the type of soil it's buried in. But most of the time they are deep! 8 to 12 inches

Not yet this year. I have to adjust my settings for lower tones. I'm a silver freak hunter so I only search for high tones.
Is the frostline ever an issue? I suspect that the past few years haven't been problematic. I was able to stick a plastic fork into the ground up until Christmas.
So what does a decent metal detector/detecting equipment go for on average, and what kind of stores carry such equipment...? Have always been interested but don't know much about it.
