Are all 1995 and many 2003A $2 mules? First pics (blue) are a 2003A second is a 95 (red). All the 95's I see are like this.

I don't believe any of the $2 1995 or newer are mules (or if they are, I don't think we can tell). Remember, a mule is when a note has a front plate from one series and a back plate from another series. Since 1981, all (?) FRNs have restarted with back plate check number 1 on each series (and of course, the front plate as well, as the signatures are engraved on that one).

1995, 2003, and 2003A $2 FRNs all started with back plate check number 1. However, since they were fairly short printings, they didn't make very many back plates, and while there's a possibility that the same back plates were used on later series, it's hard to tell.

What you seem to be looking at is the size of the back plate check number. Smaller numbers are DC printings, larger FW. I'm betting if you check the front plate, you'll see that what you're seeing is expected.

No. Series 1995 and 2003A $2 notes were printed in FW, and will have the larger back plate serial.
