I found a canadain star, i was wondering what other countries made them. if so, what are they used for.
a lot of countries use some sort of star note in there currency. it usually suits the same purpose that the star note does in the US. they are also used for specimen notes. here are some Philippines star note sheets i own. i have also included some Jamaican notes. they all have matching serials:kewl: 1970 2ND ISSUE ND BANGKO SENTRAL 5 PISO SHEET STAR NOTES 1985-91 ND 5 PISO REPUBLIKA NG PILIPINAS UNCUT SHEET STAR NOTES 1978 BANK OF JAMAICA $1 25 ANNIVERSARY STAR NOTE #1295 1978 BANK OF JAMAICA $2 25 ANNIVERSARY STAR NOTE #1295 1978 BANK OF JAMAICA $5 25 ANNIVERSARY STAR NOTE #1295 1978 BANK OF JAMAICA $10 25 ANNIVERSARY STAR NOTE #1295
This is a neat site for finding out about foreign replacement notes.... they don't all use stars, though. http://www.banknoteexpress.com/replacements.html
that was very interesting, thank you for the info. My parents are going to Austraila and i an going to try to have them get me a few stars from there
Note that, when it comes to some of the European countries, that list only applies to the pre-euro times. The Federal Republic of Germany for example did indeed have replacement note identifiers (prefix Y and Z). Nowadays, on the euro notes, you won't find anything like that. Christian
