Well I read it is true NGC will now slabbed former body bagged coins, What about the enthusiatic who has unfortunately had several body bagged for cleaning or scratches? Seems like it would be fair to the membership to give 1 free grading for every 5 they rejected in the last 5 years, seems fair enough?

Saw the new policy. Like your idea. Probably not happening.

Great idea , that makes sence , that's probably why they won't ever do it .

Wonder how they will slab them - are they just going to send them to NCS? That makes more sense to me than a new ngc type genuine slab. Will have to go check it out.

PS - Looks like they will do like ANACs. I kind of like it.

They must be getting desperate. Why would you slab a previously bagged coin. Makes no sense to me. If you said it wasn't good enough last month and still charged me what makes you think I will or want to get it graded by you this month..Do it for free and then maybe....

Depends on the coin - certain coins having genuine or details on it will make people more comfortable bidding on it. Now if it was something real common then it probably would not matter and not worth the second grading.

It isn't NGC fault you sent in a coin that body bagged. In the 3 years I have had a membership I have only had 5 coins body bag and I send coins to NGC almost every month.

I think this is necessary. PCGS started doing it a while back and NGC needs to compete with them. So, I'm not surprised in the least by this.

If I understood correctly, NCS will no longer be doing any slabbing. They will only do conservation. Now the problem coins will be slabbed by NGC themselves.

I have probably 15 mostly cleaned, even then you would have to submitted to NCS with another fee to have the coin conserved. I understand the buisness climate enough to know you must do what your competitor does and do it better to survive. But still it would make a lot of members happy to get maybe one free slab, at least it would show great customer service and it's loyality to it's membership.. So hail to the chief, I hope I can find and afford another real soon that would be worthy of the slab!!!

    Yes, that is correct.

I understand that NGC is charging a flat $5.00 fee to move a coin from an NCS slab to an NGC slab with the resulting detail grade.

They gave me two options one as just genuine in a ngc holder the other a semi graded coin from ncs....I chose the one with a grade. However I don't care for slabs I hate the feel and the look...ok I do understand why they are slabed for the grading....but to me it's not the same as holding a raw coin. Protection yes grading ok...but as for the look ulgy! I could never understand why a coin could not be slabed no matter what the issue with a grade or remarks of cleanning etc.... I have had several coins returned to me in body bags for cleanning that were not so. The coins were taken from gov. mint rolls never shipped out from the FRB to other banks for circulation. I have always believed that TPG were bias as to those of us who are just collectors and those who are in it for a business! I have seen and heard of business getting back 80% MS or PF 70's and the rest in 69 grades. Yes I am a member of NGC and PCGS but only now send coins that I want to resell for a profit...not the ones I want to hold for my personal collection.

I suppose that's so. They have always re-holdered coins for $5, maybe they'll "cross-holder" them for $5 as well.
